Hock E. Tan is president and CEO of Avago Technologies, a leading supplier of analog, mixed-signal and optoelectronic components serving customers in four end markets: industrial and automotive, wired infrastructure, wireless communications, and computer peripherals.

Tan is a semiconductor industry veteran with more than 25 years of extensive global operations and management experience. Most recently, as president and CEO of Integrated Circuit Systems, Inc. (ICS), he took the company private in 1999 and launched it as a successful IPO in 2000. During his tenure, he grew ICS into the worldwide leader in silicon timing solutions and managed the successful merger of ICS with IDT (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.) in late 2005. He currently serves as chairman of the board of IDT.

Prior to ICS, Tan was vice president of finance with Commodore International, Ltd., and previously held senior management positions with PepsiCo, Inc. and General Motors. Outside the U.S., he had co-founded Pacven Investment, Ltd., a venture capital fund in Singapore, and served as managing director for Hume Industries Ltd. in Malaysia. He was born in Penang, Malaysia, and has lived in the U.S. for more than two decades. Tan, who joined Avago Technologies in March 2006, is based out of the company’s headquarters in San Jose, California.

Tan received his MBA from Harvard Business School, and his BS/MS in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
